A sketch from Kangaroo Island

I have been very naughty, so little painting and sketching but while we were on the Island for a week over Christmas I did do this one at the Chapman River where John was fishing, and catching bream that were too small. I love the grasses and fallen trees and stuff there. I am wondering if age is catching up, but I hope to do more sketching in 2017. See you then.

Haven't sketched for ages

This hasn't Come out terribly well. We are up on the Gold Coast, in Queensland. It is a lot warmer at home but pleasant, came up for a funeral, a celebration of a 103 year old life lived well. But at the end a merciful release. Now we are staying with friend J and relaxing and catching up with friends. I sketched these flowers when we had a morning to our selves, we have packed in quite a bit and once more, with J working this morning are doing very little

2 weeks of colour me positive

I have been a bit slow posting these, but here are 2 weeks efforts. I am still enjoying doing them. This last week we could do what we liked, so I chose to do leaves. I love painting leaves and I rather liked the quote I found to go with it.

Colour me positive week 38

I rather liked doing this one, the last few I have done have been awful. Serene and peaceful. Not a lot of sketching has been going on here, I have been knitting. and ching so not much to put up.

Playing with tea bags

I usually use gesso under these but didnt this time. because I am placing them on black pages in my book I think the gesso makes them stand out better and if I dont use too much you can still see the lovely colours left in the tea bag.

Week 34 colour me positive

Trouble is this one doesnt look very positive. Whatever I did it didnt photograph well and yet in real life it is quite good. I used a spray as a background, then I rubbed over a rubbing tile with crayon and then drew the leaf in pencil. I think I shlould have gone over it again with a pen. Oh well. I will brighten things up next week.

Colour me positive

I absolutely loved doing this, Ro Bruhn was our inspiration this week with Alive being the prompt. I love Ro's work and this is my tribute to her. Not nearly as polished, much more primitive but the best my rather shaky arthritic fingers could do. I have always loved doing houses and rolling hills and pastures but this one just seemed to jump off the paint brush at me. I hope she doesnt mind.

Colour me Positive week 30

I find it incredible that I am still managing to keep doing these. This week the prompt was creative and I think I am finding myself being a little more loose and creative, not all the time but I loved doing this weeks page.

This weeks colour me positive challenge

Food for thought, this weeks was about Journeys. I have made many journeys in my time and loved them, would love to go back to Paris, even with all the trouble that is going on there, Japan as well, skiing in Austria was fun and we really only passed through Malaya a couple of times. Our sea link ferry to Kangaroo Island is now the most possible journey I think. We were lucky in the places we have managed to get to and the things we have seen.

Another of my odd people paintings. I think this one grows on you. Any way they are fun to do. The weather here is awful, gale force winds, trees down, cold and the odd squally shower.

Waiting

I am not sure where I am going with these, this is the first of a possible series. Playing around with simple figures and paint using gesso as well. I think probably I am just having fun.

A little bit of fun using prompts from Carla Sonheims book, drawing imaginary animals. Love that book, when I need a bit of a prompt for a fun sketch.

Not a lot going on

This is on its side, I am sorry, not sure what is going on as I have it right side up and then it flips again. Any way this is a page I did for my colour me positive challenge and the prompt was enough. I had the shell I had picked up off the beach a few days ago so sketched it. I think what I said was that being alive was enough. That is the way I feel at the moment. Freezing cold, wet and windy today and no walk. Ah well there is always tomorrow.

Not really a sketch or painting

I suppose it is a sort of collage. Week 24 of Colour me positive, It was courage and we had to put the quote and a boat some where in it. I found an old National Geographic map of the ocean floor and used that as my base with a ship cut out of newspaper with the feeling that it needed courage to sail in a sea when you didnt know what was beneath you. I have been terribly tired lately and am struggling to get things done. Cold and damp and dull is probably the problem.

Week 21 and 22 of Color me positive

Bother bother, I dont know how that first one turned upside down, it was ok in my file. Sorry you will just have to wear it as I dont have time to fiddle with it. I was late doing these but had a bit of fun with them, especially the 2nd one as I didnt really have to worry about making mistakes.

tea bag birds

Since we, or rather the computer changed itself to windows 10 I have been having problems with the orientation of some photos.On the screen the Pacific gull is the right way up, when I load it it is not. Very annoying. Any way the black capped terns and a pacific gull.

Tea bag play

Bother I think the first one is not the right way up. Looks a bit Japanese, the second is a wavy cockle I had found on the beach. None showing up all that well. OH well.

I have been having problems loading photos but doing these tea bag sketches has still been fun, even if the grey succulent hasnt come out well and the pelican is on his side. The weather on the Island has bee good but the fishermen are not catching a lot of fish, but at least a feed for us all.

Another small tea bag sketch. Still having fun. Very wild and windy and cold weather, it has been remarkably warm for quite a long time. Winter is coming.

I really am enjoying doing these, they take so little time to do and are keeping me interested. Only trouble is I am running out of used tea bags, we only drink a couple of cups a day.

A crow and an ink cap on tea bags

I am a bit behind, but here are two tea bag drawings, a crow, well he is painted, and an ink cap mushroom done with a pen. Hot and windy today, well relatively hot, a big low down south causing huge waves on the coast, a surfers delight.

I am still going along with my knitted sock making, it is taking so long to make one will I ever make two? I went to our Welsh foal show today, 2 judges, one ring, I have never been so confused, 2 judges with totally opposing views for most of the show. Luckily for us they both loved one of our fillies who became Supreme of show. Hooray.

Perhaps some of my mojo has returned

First photo is my week 18 challenge for colour me positive. Quote on healing and had to use a heart. This is not the quote that was used but one that spoke to me. My second tea bag play, love that you can use as much or as little of the tea bag as you like. Having some fun.

some one shared on facebook a group that were doing 365 days of tea bag art. I loved the idea, I have heaps of sketchbooks I dont use, like this black paged one, and lots of tea bags so I had a play this morning. I can only get better!!

WEEk 17 of colour me positive

I have had a rather 'off' week this week, I think I had a reaction to having 2 different bits of me cut out and a burnt off thingummy on my nose and I have felt well off! This is a not very good couple of pages I did for this weeks challenge, friendship and tribal came into it and we had to make a stamp. Not exactly the way IO wanted it, the stamp is the tree you can hardly see in the background. Any way it is done for another week.

Colour me positive and maps

This was this weeks challenge, a quote about art and a bird. loved doing this. I have also over the last few days been drawing a map of from home to our walks on the cliffs, these are just a few of the bits of map. It is amazing how many houses in our valley I forgot and all the creeks and little turnoffs. The whole map has been turned into a 2 sided folded book. Really a bit of a challenge.
