My mothers room
While my mother slept the other day I sketched this corner of her room, the colours have not come up very well, I dont know what my scanner is doing but I think it gives a rough idea.
I have been very busy doing other things, eg sewing and not had much time to paint. Perhaps tomorrow.

Isn't it awful when you have to assist your Mum into moving to a retirement home/nursing home, etc. and she has to discard all her favourite paintings, photos, vases, etc. and simplify her environment down to a single room. I cried twice - when Mum went into a 'retirement village' then again when she moved into the hospital nursing care section. She only had a small locker then and a small beside table. So different to her lovely house and extensive garden which she really loved.

Penny, your painting reminded me of a similar sketch my sister did of the corner of my mother's room in a home for the elderly. I found it tucked away in a drawer when I had to clear her room ealier this year. I think such mementos are so poignant, probably more so than all the special little keepsakes. Perhaps because there is a stronger connection.
