My mother

A friend has just rung to say I havent had a drawing up, I was and probably still will try to get this done as a painting but I did a quick sketch and made her look like Maggie Thatcher!
I took the photo today while I was in Adelaide, stinking hot, the car got to over 40 degrees but officially it was nearly 39. In Victor it was 23 and out here over 30. I am tired, I find these trips to Adelaide tiring and depressing, although my mother was having a really good day. She looks pretty good for 95.

She does look great for 95. The weather there sounds brutal. Still enjoying your painting and sketches, just haven't been commenting as much. Take care.

What a wonderful face she has, Penny.
I cannot believe she is 95. If you just didn't have to battle that heat the rips might not be as tiring, though it does pull on our energy to worry about our older loved ones.

Your mum looks like a lovely lady Penny. Take care in the heat again this weekend... we are off to KI, hopefully it won't be quite so hot over there.

Gosh, she is a fine-looking lady and what a nice photograph with the light on her face. Very hard to draw faces though so I don't try much. Can't even draw my husband's face right!
We didn't get the real heat here, just nice warm weather.

Someone suggested to me that you could take off your spectacles and just smudge in the shadows of a portrait so that you look at the light and shade on a face rather than the outlines. I might try it out sometime.
