Palm tree

While flying around in Victor shopping today I stopped to have a break and outside the window was this palm tree with all its leaves chopped off and all these lights and darks it was fascinating.
Pouring with rain still and I have friends for dinner tonight so this is rushed. I have a feeling I have sketched this tree before, but I dont know if it is up so it is all I had time to do.

Great patterns on the trunks of these trees. Certainly it looks like the same kind or similar kind of tree that the Council placed in Moorabool Street in Geelong - at great expense.
There are patterns everywhere and your project of walking and observing is paying dividends and giving you a keen eye.

Wendy I tried to e mail you, if you look on my Back Valley seasons blog in the links you will have to scroll through but I do post on there some of my textile stuff. Primarily I call myself a cloth doll maker but have gone in some different directions lately. I will also post his on your blog.

I like the patterns and darks and lights. Nice drawing! Isn't it great noticing things to draw everywhere!

Penny, this looks like the trunk of a Canary Island Palm (Phoenix canariensis). One of my favourite (exotic) trees and perfect for our mediterranean climate.
