Tap

This tap with its brass bird as a handle has been much used in the past few days. I have been filling a bowl with a rock in it for the small and sometimes the larger birds to get water.
It was sooo hot yesterday, well over 40 degrees and the garden was shrivelling almost before my eyes.
The water I put out for the birds was also going fast.
too hot to do anything, but a pleasant evening in Victor with friends where the temps were 10 degrees cooler.

Gosh Penny, this is such a familiar sight. I too have spent the past few days keeping the bird baths topped up. The lorikeets do love a good splash in this weather! I have also been spending the late evening moving a dripping hose from shrub to shrub. Stirling in the Adelaide Hills has rarely looked so parched. I dread to think how the garden on Kangaroo Island is looking.

Your kindness shines through and reminded me to think of the many birds that frequent our now nearly dead garden.
It was so so hot yesterday and I was crowded into a Deakin Uni. students' common room with 50 people to listen to droning poetry - no airconditioning. The sky filled with drifting smoke.

This picture is so full of emotion. When I know the problems you're having with the drought, those precious drops of water falling from the tap brings tears to my eyes.
